  Chapter 7 One Life or Many? “Perhaps the question is not whether reincarnation is true, but what kind of universe would make reincarnation meaningful.”   Humanity’s Persistent Question There are questions that seem to belong not to any one culture, religion, or century, but to humanity itself. Who are we? Why are we here? What happens after we die? [1] And one of the oldest questions of all: Is this life the whole journey of consciousness, or only one chapter within it? [2] Parents have asked it after losing children. Children have asked it after losing parents. Philosophers have debated it. Mystics have contemplated it. Ordinary people have quietly carried the question in their hearts, often without expecting a definitive answer. Few questions have appeared so consistently throughout recorded history.
