Reflections Toward a Theory of Consciousness Preface Every worldview begins as fragments. Some are inherited. Some are discovered. Some are abandoned. Some return years later wearing different names. These pages are neither theology nor science. They are an attempt to think honestly about consciousness, time, identity, memory, and the possibility that humanity has been describing one mystery through many languages. If these fragments point anywhere, they point toward wonder. Acknowledgments This work was inspired in part by the writings of Dr. Sam Vaknin, whose poetry and explorations of time asymmetry, consciousness, identity, and psychology challenged me to ask deeper questions. The poem “The New Gods” is a philosophical response to Dr. Vaknin’s “The Old Gods.” The reflections that follow are entirely my own and represent an evolving personal theory of consciousness. Heaven in Columbia revisited A little patch from four seasons past Sitting by the sunflowers along side the rushing waters 🌊 We’ve got a while before the next trains 🚂 pass The sunflowers 🌻 gave birth to a patch of zinnia while we were away Umbrellas at every table for shading hearts Still bright and blue without any fade Bumble bees 🐝 hard at tending the flowers 🌺 The hawk on the wire keeps them in line River walk patrol ~ protecting all souls A newly posted map 🗺️ to guide one’s time When I thought nothing could make it better 👌 The clouds began to fade ☁️🌥️🌤️ A taco 🌮 truck pulled in and parked Then a wobbly toddler smiled and waved 🧒 I
Waking up to the overcast skies with grey clouds slowly cascading away They slowly reveal pockets of sunlight streaming through blue skies behind. Ohh and now I wonder….. Do you think there is a pocket of heaven in Colombia? Maybe down by the river, under the power lines, And just outside the city's grasp… ??? Could it be below the graffiti stained Concrete bridge with the road smudged in oil? The one that carries passengers to Center City Yes I think it could be so Just follow Three Rivers Greenway to where the sounds of the rolling waters push hard over the river's rocks drowning out the noises beyond the bridge Cicadas and birds will be singing over the rushing waters You can close your eyes with arms wide open to the soothing waters breeze whisping through and over your skin To become one with yourself ~ Tuning in and then eyes widened and open to all the others that have found this place To the fisherman pulling his bounty and kayak smiling prou...
